Venue: Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok

Sponsored by: Academia Sinica, Ministry of Culture, R.O.C.

Held by: Academia Sinica Center for Digital Cultures, Gaea Books Co.

               In partnership with: ASUS

               Supported by: Pupmo Co.

The exhibit "World of Comics: Imaginary or Reality?" goes international. This time, the exhibit will journey to the 16th International Book Fair in Bangkok with a bonus installation: the virtual sky lantern, recreating one of Taiwan's distinct traditional devices.

The Academia Sinica Center for Digital Cultures is bringing its signature exhibit overseas to represent Taiwan as the featured exhibitor this year. The viewer in Thailand will discover a space conjoining state-of-the-art technology and Taiwanese culture, as well as some of the enchanting scenes in the Creative Comic Collection.

Thanks to a pioneering partnership with ASUS and Pupmo Co., the exhibit also transports visitors to the heart of 19th century and early 20th century Taipei (as depicted in The Strangers' Travels: A Tale of Tea Trade and A Hundred Tableaux of Taipei), the puppetry theater of "Hero Errant of Dragon Fountain vs. the Mist Man" and the sea adventure at the Age of Discovery featured in the AR board game Dutchman in Formosa, using the latest technology including augmented reality, Google Tango and 3D projection.

Powered by the motion tracker and interactive sets of HTC Vive, the virtual sky lantern installation enables the visitors to see sky lanterns with their wishes written launched in the areas of Pingxi, Miaocheng and Jade Mountain.
