The "Dunhuang (DH2019) Digital Humanities from a Global Perspective: Research and Practice—Research Camp" and the "Dunhuang (DH2019) International Conference on Cultural Heritage Digitization & the Annual Digital Humanities Committee Meeting of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences' Information Science Society" will be held July 2–9, 2019, at the Mogao Caves World Heritage Site at Dunhuang. The theme of the conference will be "Cultural Heritage Digitization and Digital Humanities Research."
At the invitation of Dunhuang Research Academy, our center's Deputy Director Chen Hsi-yuan and Executive Secretary Chen Shu-jiun will present a special report at the meeting. The topics of the report will be The Emperor's First and Final Edicts—From Research to Digital Presentation, and The Framework of a Semantically Interoperable Asian Buddhist Art Gallery and Knowledge Base.
The conference is jointly hosted by Dunhuang Research Academy and the Digital Humanities Committee of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences' Information Science Society. Renowned specialist scholars are invited from around the globe to explore and share the newest academic ideas and achievements in the fields of cultural heritage digitization and digital humanities. Conference topics include cultural heritage digitization theories, methods, and technology; the knowledge organization of digital humanities; digital humanities research in the light of digital cultural heritage resources; the construction and application of digital heritage knowledge graphs; and the open access and long term-preservation of digital cultural heritage resources.
In addition, attendees will perform on-site image processing and digital collection
of murals at the Dunhuang Mogao Caves.
