Overview

This project aims to construct information modeling capturing the interactions and movements of individuals within Ming Dynasty historical texts record, leveraging natural language processing and geographic information system, with the integration of both scientific approach, modeling the historical information therefore, contribute to digital humanity research. The primary source is the "Ming Shilu" alongside other records from Ming Dynasty. The goal is to analyze key entities (characters, locations, temporal points, organizations) and their interconnections, enhancing the comprehensive understanding of the ming dynasty society and culture phenomena through observing the individuals interaction and movements through structurize profound classical chinese text from the numerous digtialize texts therefore adding value to our profound Ming Dynasty historical records.

This project employs Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to map the “religious landscapes” of Taiwan. The project aims to collect data on every single religious site—both official and unofficial—in Taiwan. The project employs the innovative method of crowdsourcing to collect the data, which will include historical documents, oral interviews, photographs, and other information. Local investigators, experts, and the public will collect chronological and spatial data on the different religious sites. The data will be uploaded to a public website that can be searched or statistically analyzed. The website will be feature-rich, with the ability to create interactive maps, statistical charts, and timelines. Each year the project leaders will organize their data around different themes. The first year focuses on the relationship between infrastructure and religion. In our second year we foucs on mountainous regions and religious belief. In our final year we will examine socioeconomic data and the development of religious sites.
