Basic information
Project identifier AS-ASCDC-112-212
Conducted by Institute of Ethnology
Director
Overview

This project is a continuation of the Institute of Ethnology, Academia Sinica, long-accumulated multi-year research on indigenous peoples, and a systematic digital inventory and consolidation of different research results, information, and collections to facilitate the development of the knowledge systems, education, and culture on Taiwan's indigenous peoples.

In the first year of the project (2021), the Institute of Ethnology has established a "bibliographic database of indigenous studies," digitized some of the books on indigenous peoples, and started a basic digital inventory of the Institute of Ethnology's indigenous studies collections, especially the objects and video collections of the three co-exhibitions, as well as the GIS pre-production workshops. In 2022, in addition to continuing the work on the "Bibliographic Database of Indigenous Studies" and the digitization of monographs on indigenous peoples, the project will focus on the "Digital Value-Added to Monographs on Indigenous Studies" and cooperate with the "Open Museum" to establish a "Digital Reading" unit in the "Digital Museum of the Institute of Ethnology." Furthermore, the Institute of Ethnology (IOE) has established a digital reading unit in the Digital Museum. At the same time, the " Specialized Indigenous Peoples Research Area" was established on the website of the Institute of Ethnology to integrate and link data to the texts, objects, and images of the aboriginal research conducted by the Institute of Ethnology. In the current year (2023), we will continue to build the "Geographic Information GIS Network for Indigenous Peoples' Knowledge Systems" to integrate and link the texts, objects, and images of the Institute's aboriginal studies using GIS technology. In addition to the digital work mentioned above, the project also provides subsidies for visiting scholars of indigenous studies to participate in the Institute's museum projects. It organizes exchange lectures by the Institute's researchers to various institutions.
