Overview |
This project employs Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to map the “religious landscapes” of Taiwan. The project aims to collect data on every single religious site—both official and unofficial—in Taiwan. The project employs the innovative method of crowdsourcing to collect the data, which will include historical documents, oral interviews, photographs, and other information. Local investigators, experts, and the public will collect chronological and spatial data on the different religious sites. The data will be uploaded to a public website that can be searched or statistically analyzed. The website will be feature-rich, with the ability to create interactive maps, statistical charts, and timelines. Each year the project leaders will organize their data around themes that emerge from the data collection. |
