Basic information
Project identifier AS-ASCDC-110-208
Conducted by Institute of Ethnology
Director
Overview

The Institute of Ethnology, Academia Sinica (IOE) has established a strong department in the study of Taiwan Indigenous Peoples for more than six decades. In addition to the publication of research volumes and papers and the translations of Japanese archives, there are rich collections of indigenous artifacts, images and videos in IOE. The institute has promoted collaborative work with indigenous scholars and fieldworkers through various channels in recent years, including visiting scholarships, community service projects, and several co-curated exhibitions that brought museum artifacts back to their original place. Based on the accumulated research of IOE, this projects aims to organize and re-structure various genres of research publications, data, and collections in digital format, and to facilitate future application for the cultural and educational development of indigenous knowledge systems. Major plans include a bibliographic database, value-adding of collections and publications, and a geographic information-based spatio-temporal database of IOE indigenous studies.
