In 2023, she delivered two special lectures at ASCDC on Digital Humanities and Data Intelligence, where she shared insights and observation about the development of Finland’s SAMPO semantic portals and other examples of AI applications in digital humanities research. Both of Professor Zeng’s lectures were well received.

The ASIS&T, formerly known as the American Documentation Institute (ADI) established in 1937, is dedicated to advancing research and practice in information science and technology. The Award of Merit is a lifetime achievement award based on three criteria including impact on theory, scholarship, and practice; exemplary leadership and sustained involvement; and education and mentoring. In nominating Professor Zeng, Marjorie Hlava expressed that Zeng’s research contributions to the field speak for themselves. Her impact in the world of standards, particularly in metadata and controlled vocabularies, is broad and deep.
