Since its establishment in 1955, the Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica has been dedicated to collecting archival materials, including government departments and oral history, in order to back up the researches for modern history. Other than its well-known collection of government archives, the Archives of the Institute of Modern History also collect private materials to extend our researches into social, cultural and other fields. Those efforts have cooperated with the research fellows in the institute to create fruitful results. In recent years, the Archives has actively participated in the "Digital Collection and Value-added Use of Modern Financial Archives" (2013-2014), "Digital Collections of Modern Diplomatic Archives" (2015), " Digital Collection Project of Modern Diplomatic and Economic Archives" (2016) and the "Digital Collection and Value-Added Operation Plan for Modern Economic Archives" (2017-2018). We have progressed from simply digitalizing and categorizing historical data to making our data closer to meeting the standard of LOD. The project marks keywords, personal contacts, geographic information in the archives, so as to become applicable to the digital tools such as Social Network and GIS. To meet this purpose, the Archives have been cooperating with the Database team of the Institute and the Center for GIS, RCHSS. In the past, historians of modern economy paid much attentions to the development of heavy industry when they studied industrialization. Recently, the trend has gradually shifted to the perspective of agricultural innovation and dissemination, which is in fact alongside the efforts to promote industry. The project is based on the theme of “post-war rural demobilization and resource re-engineering” and the “Agricultural Demobilization Commission Archives” to explore the reception and reconstruction of government departments and private agriculture, forestry, fishery and animal husbandry. In addition, with the “Resources Committee Archives” that has been digitally completed by the recent history, it has built a digital map of natural resources and a talent pool for science and technology in China for two years. Through the digital collection and value-added applications, we will contribute to the studies of China's and Taiwan's agricultural economy after the war.
