ASCDC’s main mission is to assist the digital turn in humanities research. We carry out structured compilation and organization of text and images accumulated from different civilizations and historical periods. In addition, we research and develop nimble tools to enable researchers to more effectively synthesize and analyze diverse large quantities of text and images, thereby expanding new and groundbreaking research topics in the humanities field.

Connecting local societies with digital contents and research, as well as interacting on an equal footing with international scholarship, are further challenges that ASCDC is actively engaging with. Under these premises, the Open Museum platform was launched at the end of 2018, utilizing open licensing methods in order to transform academic content, integrate digital collections, and allow cooperating institutions to use the various presentation tools and modules developed by ASCDC to curate multidimensional digital exhibits. The Open Museum serves as a platform to translate and showcase research, enabling the general public to come into broader contact with scholarship, and aiding the popularization of science and knowledge in society.

This year, the Academia Sinica "Digital Archives and Digital Humanities Research Project" will hold its Research Expo online for the first time, using the Open Museum to showcase its research results. This year's Research Expo gathers 13 subprojects and special projects under ASCDC, putting forth 13 themed curations and 19 exhibits. Its scope spans across Taiwan and China, with time periods from prehistory to modern day, and covers topics including religion, folk belief, historiography, philology, archaeology, biology, geographic information science, social networks, and information science.

With a simple click or press of a finger, you're invited to roam through the Open Museum and enjoy this digital feast!
