The core mission of the Academia Sinica Center for Digital Cultures (ASCDC) is to preserve, disseminate, and create culture through digital methods. Under this premise, ASCDC actively researches and develops digitization tools and platforms. It manages and puts out calls for the subprojects of the Academia Sinica's Digital Archives and Digital Humanities Research Project, and collaborates with Academia Sinica’s various institutes to promote interdisciplinary digital humanities research. In addition, it is devoted to Linked Open Data (LOD) research and practice, innovative applications for digital data and academic research, and opening up digital platforms to advance knowledge sharing, in the hopes of enriching culture via new ways of narration, interpretation, and dissemination. Important achievements include the Academia Sinica Digital Humanities Research Platform, Open Museum, GIS for Religious Landscape in Taiwan, LOD Datasets, Creative Comic Collection, and the Walking into the Past and Present book series and app.
To broaden awareness of our newest developments, ASCDC has specially published the Digital Archives and Digital Humanities Research Project 2019 Annual Report to convey the key points of our projects' research and highlighted achievements in 2019.
